Commerce Department Revisions are Down

by Gustavo Baner MBA © 2017

It is unfortunate when we get this type of reports that in a way further makes us realize how much the print world has changed in the last decade or so.

Dr. Joe Webb reported athat the annual revisions to the Commerce Department's manufacturing shipments were disappointing for the US commercial printing industry.

Data shows a continuing contraction in printing shipments of nearly 5%.

This data is a reminder to printing companies that the future lays in a different business model than the one that was successful at the turn of the century.

Dr. Joe Web and Richard Romano laid that very clearly about 3 years ago when they released their book (available at Amazon)
"This Point Forward: The New Start the Marketplace Demands"

Data drivern marketing operations that develop value to the clients is one of the concepts that they analyze. Becoming an omnichannel marketing operation that services the printing/marketing company's clients clients. For companies embracing this philosophy, a shrinking print market might still be a place for growth, if only the players shift their way of doing business and updating to what the new reality is.
